Recognisable since 1876 with its trademark red ribbon label, Mumm Cordon Rouge is a fresh and full-bodied Champagne. It starts well with fresh yellow-gold colour and a fine and elegant bead. As it rounds the turn there are hints of lemon, stone fruits, green apple and cashew. It has a rich palate that is a beautifully balanced ride. This is one of the best examples of non-vintage champagne around.

The company might have started in the Champagne district town of Reims in 1827, but it wasn’t 1876 the Cordon Rouge was born. Described as a “birth of an icon” for almost two hundred years it has been generally regarded as one of the truly great champagnes. With hints of lemon, stone fruits and green apple on the palate this beautifully balanced wine is a superb example of non-vintage style champagne on the market. Pair it with a seafood dish, such as fresh clams with a squeeze of lemon. Ideal for any celebration.
